Viettel wins best place to work in Vietnam

Military-run telecommunications group Viettel has continued to hold on to its top position on the Best Place To Work in Vietnam rankings, said Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

Accordingly, at the awards ceremony of the Vietnam 100 Best Place To Work 2023 and launched by Anphabe Company, the group secured its top position in both categories of Telecommunications-Infrastructure-Hardware Technology and Software-IT & Application-E-commerce.

Furthermore, Viettel also ranked third place in the list of the top 100 Best Place to Work for large enterprises, one place higher compared to the previous year.

This year saw the survey poll nearly 64,000 employees from 500 businesses nationwide.

In August, Viettel was honoured with HR Asia’s “Best companies to work for in Asia 2023” Award, according to the latest announcement made by the magazine. This represents the third year in a row that it has picked up the award.

The group’s success mainly comes from it being pioneer in digital transformation in internal governance, as well as its strategy of creating digital platforms, products, and services for society.

Giant sushi birthday cake sets Vietnamese record

A 2.3 metre high cake made of sushi has been recognised as the largest of its kind in Vietnam by the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) as itset a national record on November 19, said Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The cake was created by FUKU cuisine joint stock company within the framework of the 10th anniversary of Miresto Culinary System which owns many famous restaurant chains in Vietnam.

The piece of work is made up of 5 storeys, with each one consisting of 5,400 small pieces of sushi with 10 flavours.

It was made using 170kg of ingredients, including 60kg of Japanese rice, along with nearly 70kg of seafood such as salmon, tuna, and eel. All ingredients used in the cake were shipped quickly via air from Japan to Vietnam in just 24 hours.

A total of 30 chefs made the cake over the course of 90 minutes, with the ultimate aim of serving over 1,000 diners.

Vietnamese referees to officiate AFC Cup

Three Vietnamese referees have been assigned to work at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup for the 2023 to 2024 season, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The AFC has duly appointed referee Ngo Duy Lan and referee assistants Nguyen Trung Hau and Pham Hoai Tam to officiate a match between Odisha FC of India and Bashundhara Kings FC of Bangladesh in Group D in the regional competition, with the fixture scheduled to take place on December 11 in India.

This comes after August when local referee Ngo Duy Lan and his two assistants took charge of a game between Machhindra FC of Nepal and Paro FC of Bhutan in the AFC Cup’s preliminary round.

Previously, in 2022 Ngo Duy Lan also took charge of an AFC Cup game between Neftchi FC of Kyrgyzstan and Altyn Asyr of Turkmenistan.

Lan, 39, has been named as the winner of the Vietnam Golden Whistle award twice. So far, he and three other local referees, including Le Vu Linh, Hoang Ngoc Ha, and Nguyen Manh Hai, have been recognised as being at an elite-level by FIFA.

Most recently, Lan completed his task of officiating a match between the hosts Pakistan and Tajikistan on November 21 as part of the second round of qualifiers in the Asian region for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Da Nang – Hue heritage train route to be put into service soon

In an attempt to improve service quality and serve passenger demand, the Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR) has worked with localities, including Thua Thien – Hue, to boost its heritage tourism connection, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

According to the VNR, the Hue – Da Nang section includes 12 stations with a length of 102 km. There are three stations located on steep mountain passes and nine that can welcome passengers.

In the first 10 months of 2023, the number of passengers traveling by train from Hue to Da Nang reached about 74,000 passengers, and 79,000 on the Da Nang - Hue route. The average number of passengers travelling between these two cities is 500 a day. Currently, 10 trains picking up and dropping off passengers in Hue and Da Nang are operated.

Travel time from Hue to Da Nang by train takes from 3.5 hours to four hours, however the trains can run into the centre of the two cities, making it convenient for passengers, especially tourists.

General Director of VRC Hoang Gia Khanh said that the company is developing a plan to soon realise this project. This includes detailed planning of train schedules and ticket prices, giving priority to services during “golden hours”, taking full advantage of the railway route that has been voted the most worth experiencing in the world.

Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien - Hue provincial People's Committee, said that Hue city prioritises developing tourism as a key economic sector. Thua Thien - Hue province is known as the land of heritage and festivals, attracting many domestic and international tourists. Therefore, organising a daily tourist train between Da Nang - Hue not only serves tourists but also connects the heritage lands of the central region./.
