According to VOV, Yahoo! Finance has named Hue in central Thua Thien-Hue province among the top 20 most underrated travel destinations throughout Asia.

According to the website, the central city was once the imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty.

“Many of the city’s historical sites are well preserved, including the citadel. The city is home to several UNESCO heritage sites, including shrines, palaces, and pagodas, that embody the strength and tradition of the country’s former kingdom,” the website revealed.

Yahoo! Finance also suggested that travelers should visit the city during the autumn when it is filled with the sweet fragrance of the perfume river, making an even more delightful experience for guests.

Other destinations included on the list were Luang Prabang of Laos, Bagan of Myanmar, Ipoh of Malaysia, Koh Rong of Cambodia, Koh Kood of Thailand, Kerala of India, Busan of the Republic of Korea, Skardu of Pakistan, Leshan of China, Dhaka of Bangladesh, and Hachimantai of Japan.

VOV cited the Indian medial outlet that the country can be considered a Southeast Asian gem that offers incredible value for money.

The article also suggested exploring the bustling streets of Hanoi, cruising through the stunning limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, and relaxing on the beautiful beaches of destinations such as Da Nang and Nha Trang.

With affordable accommodation, delicious street food for under INR100, equal to US$1.2, and cheap transportation options such as local buses and trains, Vietnam is truly a budget traveler's paradise, the website reported.

Topping the list is Thailand which is a budget traveler's paradise, offering a perfect blend of culture, adventure, and relaxation for visitors.

Boasting budget-friendly guesthouses, mouthwatering local cuisine, and inexpensive transportation options like trains and buses, Sri Lanka features at second on the list. The island nation is considered an ideal destination for budget-conscious travelers.

Elsewhere, Nepal and Bhutan were placed in third and fourth positions, respectively.

Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum to extend opening hours

According to VOV, the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum, a must-see destination in the north-western province of Dien Bien, has decided to extend its opening hours, catering to increasing demand in the upcoming National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day holidays as well as the 70th anniversary of the victory (May 7).

The museum will apply evening hours from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM every Friday and Saturday between April 5 and May 31 as well as on May 6 and 7.

Its director, Vu Thi Tuyet Nga, revealed that in March, the museum hosted over 50,400 visitors, including many groups of veterans, officials, soldiers, and students from across the nation.

Boasting modern architecture, its 1,250-square-metre exhibition area on the first floor displays nearly 1,000 documents, artifacts, photos, and maps.

The highlight of the museum is a panorama painting depicting the Dien Bien Phu campaign, the largest in Southeast Asia and one of the three largest in the world. Painted with oil on canvas, it features 4,500 figures and mountainous landscapes, vividly portraying significant battles of the period.

On March 13, 1954, the Vietnamese revolutionary army launched the first attack against the French colonialists’ heavily fortified base of Dien Bien Phu, starting the 56-day historic campaign whose victory directly led to the signing of the Geneva Accords on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina.

HCM City stimulates tourism with discounts up to 60%

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism on April 3 launched the 2024 stimulus programme, with discounts of 10-60% on various tourism products and services, reported VNA.

Participating businesses have already signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to ensure a comprehensive range of discounted options. The programme, with nearly 100 travel agents, accommodation and dining facilities, shopping venues and entertainment centres taking part, will be officially introduced to tourists at the upcoming Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival slated for April 4-7 at 23/9 Park in District 1.

Travelers can choose from up to 23 urban tours in Ho Chi Minh City, along with 13 additional tours connecting the city with neighbouring areas.

In particular, a network of dining, shopping, healthcare, entertainment and leisure service establishments will offer 200,000 discount vouchers valued at 50 billion VND (2 million USD).

To hold diverse and sustainable demand-stimulating activities, the municipal Department of Tourism and the Department of Industry and Trade signed a joint plan for tourism demand stimulation for the 2024 – 2030 period.

Since the late 2023, the municipal Department of Tourism has been actively working with key industry players like resort conglomerates, travel agents, and hospitality establishments to build attractively priced tours, and encourage visitors to explore not only Ho Chi Minh City but also other destinations across the country./.
