Vinh Phuc promotes activities to develop two-way tourism with India

On June 2, Mr. Pranay Verma, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, visited and participated in a number of activities in Vinh Phuc Province on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (1972 - 2022).

Receiving Ambassador Pranay Verma, Mr. Vu Viet Van, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People’s Committee, stressed that Vietnam and India have a long-standing traditional relationship which was laid by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlai Nehru, preserved and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. Especially, since January 7, 1972, when the two countries officially established diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India has been developing better and better.

Currently, in Vinh Phuc, there are 4 Indian investment projects with a total registered capital of over USD10 million, creating jobs for thousands of workers. Through economic and technical cooperation programs, India has also assisted the province in training dozens of officials.

Mr. Vu Viet Van expressed his wish that Ambassador Pranay Verma would continue to pay attention and help Vinh Phuc organize many Indian cultural programs and activities for people to have the opportunity to learn and participate, contributing to tightening the good relationship between Vietnam – India; pay attention to and create conditions for Vinh Phuc to organize investment promotion delegations, attracting big Indian investors to invest in industrial park infrastructure development, and developing public industrial projects high technology, high-tech agriculture and education; organize fairs to introduce and promote typical products, cultural and artistic programs and activities; and give priority to scholarships to support training for staff and students of Vinh Phuc.

Expressing his belief that the Governments of India and Vietnam will continue to regularly organize high-level delegations to visit and exchange economic cooperation, Ambassador Pranay Verma said that the cooperation relationship between India and Vietnam will grow to new heights. In 2021, despite the strong impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, India continues to be one of the top 10 trade partners of Vietnam, with two-way export turnover reaching nearly USD11 billion, an increase of nearly 40% year on year. This is an important premise for the two countries to aim to increase two-way export turnover to USD15 billion.

Ambassador Pranay Verma suggested that immediately after this visit, the Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee direct relevant departments and agencies to work directly with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to organize programs and events related to economic development, trade and cultural development, towards the goal of multi-dimensional cooperation in many fields where India has strengths. At the same time, Ambassador Pranay Verma wished Vinh Phuc province to continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for Indian investors to explore investment opportunities in the fields of information technology, commerce, and pharmaceutical chemistry; and promote connection activities, and develop two-way tourism between Vinh Phuc and India in particular and Vietnam - India in general, especially Buddhist tourism./.
