Of the assistance, USD50,000 (over VND1 billion) come from the China Red Cross, VND340 million from the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and VND2.5 billion from the Chinese Business Association in Vietnam.

Addressing the receiving ceremony, Yun Hai Hong, charge d’affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, showed her sympathy over the serious human and property losses. “Although this is a small assistance compared to the flood victims’ losses, it contains the affection from the Chinese Party, State and people for Vietnam, especially natural disaster-affected people,” she said.

While Tran Quoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Red Cross, thanked the Chinese side for its prompt assistance, pledging to quickly transfer the assistance to affected people to help them stabilize their lives and boost sustainable development.

In June, the localities of Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Son La, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen and Yen Bai suffered serious floods and landslides, killing and leaving missing dozens of people, destroying more than 3,200 houses, and causing a loss of over VND600 billion in agricultural, fisheries and breeding production.

The Vietnam Red Cross has provided initial assistance of VND1.25 billion to the most seriously affected families in Lai Chau and Ha Giang; and sent rescue teams to assist localities in overcoming the consequences./.
