Welcoming Vice President Misra Rajat and his delegation, Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan praised AIIB's achievements since its establishment in January 2016. Starting with 57 founding member countries, AIIB now has 110 member countries, representing 81% of the global population and 65% of the world's GDP. AIIB has realized its goals and mission through funding projects in infrastructure, transportation, energy, telecommunications and the environment, significantly contributing to sustainable economic growth and enhancing infrastructure development and connectivity in Asia.

Introducing Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan highlighted the city's contribution to the national green growth strategy for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, and the city's own green growth strategy towards sustainable development by 2030. The city is also working on establishing a financial center and implementing various infrastructure, economic and social development programs. The city aims to develop into a smart, modern urban center, serving as an economic, financial, commercial and technological hub in Southeast Asia.

Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan appreciated AIIB's commitment to supporting Vietnam's socio-economic development towards green growth, digital economy, circular economy and climate resilience. AIIB's participation in the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) aims to accelerate a fair transition to decarbonize Vietnam's power system and develop economic opportunities, targeting net-zero emissions by 2050. AIIB's goals and mission align well with Vietnam's and Ho Chi Minh City's current economic and social development objectives.

Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan expressed the city's desire for AIIB's support in developing Ho Chi Minh City's urban railway system through technical assistance and financial resources to attract private sector investment into these projects. According to the plan, by 2060, the city will have a metro network with 10 lines and one tram line, totaling 582 kilometers with an investment of nearly USD92 billion.

He also acknowledged the significant pressure on Ho Chi Minh City to upgrade its infrastructure and urban areas to facilitate economic development and ensure sustainable growth. Therefore, the city hopes that Vice President Misra Rajat and AIIB will support the city in implementing projects.

Vice President Misra Rajat noted that AIIB was founded in 2016 and now includes 110 countries. AIIB's main goal is to promote sustainable economic growth and enhance infrastructure development and connectivity in Asia. In Vietnam, AIIB has supported financing for five upcoming private sector projects in solar energy and hydropower. Additionally, AIIB is exploring and expressing interest in funding several projects in Vietnam, with and without government guarantees, in renewable energy, transportation infrastructure, and water supply and drainage.

The AIIB delegation, including representatives from several energy corporations and businesses, aimed to discuss investment strategies and infrastructure development needs in Ho Chi Minh City and explore potential cooperation between AIIB and the city./.
