Secretary of the Party Committee of the northern province of Ninh Binh Nguyen Thi Thu Ha on March 5 received Mori Masako, Special Advisor to the Japan Prime Minister.

Saying that she was pleased to welcome the Japanese delegation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam, Ms Ha highlighted some key features of the province's socio-economic development achievements, including the results of cooperation between Ninh Binh and a number of Japanese localities.

According to Ms Ha, the province has worked with some Japanese delegations to discuss cooperation promotion activities in localities including Okayama and Kagoshima prefectures, Saiki city, and Tokyo.

“It is expected that in the second quarter of this year, Ninh Binh province will coordinate with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to organise a trade promotion conference for Japanese investors,” she said.

She noted that in Ninh Binh province, the Kyoei Steel project, an FDI project with 100% investment capital from Japan, with a total investment of USD33.6 million, is being carried out. Although the number of investment projects from Japan is still modest, they have made positive contributions to the province's socio-economic development, especially in economic restructuring, job creation, and increased labor productivity, modern technology and management experience, according to Ms Ha.

She added that the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have had a policy and are suggesting the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, Japan, pay attention to and create conditions for connection and promote cooperation and establish friendly relations between Ninh Binh province and Fukuoka, supporting investment promotion, image promotion, and potential strengths and cooperation opportunities between organizations and enterprises in Japan to Ninh Binh province.

Besides economic cooperation, the province also expects more experience exchange in women-related issues including family health care, reproductive health, and responses to natural disasters and climate change.

For her part, Ms Mori Masako expressed her deep impression of the beautiful scenery and friendly people when visiting the Trang An World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

She said the 470,000-strong Vietnamese community in Japan is the second largest group and greatly contributes to the country’s socio-economic development, adding she will do her best to promote a friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, and between Ninh Binh province with the regions of Japan in particular.

She added that she would do her best to promote the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, and between Ninh Binh province and Japanese localities in particular, especially in Ninh Binh’s care, related to cooperation, socio-economic development, and promotion of the role of women in the family and in social work.

She also applauded Ninh Binh province’s proposal on organising the Cherry Blossom Festival in the province, pledging she will try to help make it come true./.
