Uncle Ho monument in St. Petersburg to be inaugurated

During the meeting, Mr. Nikolai Bondarenko expressed his wish to continue to tighten the cooperation and diplomatic relations between the two cities, especially in the fields of economy, culture and information technology.

He said he hoped to be able to mark a future memorandum of understanding between the St. Petersburg and the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, if possible, to be officially signed on the day St. Petersburg inaugurates a monument to President Ho Chi Minh in this city in 2023.

According to Mr. Bondarenko, the inauguration of the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in St. Petersburg has been carefully prepared and he is looking forward to welcoming Ms. Nguyen Thi Le as well as other high-ranking delegations from Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular to attend this special ceremony.

On this occasion, Mr. Bondarenko also said that right near the planned site of President Ho Chi Minh's monument, there is a high school. He really wanted to establish at this school a gallery or museum about President Ho Chi Minh and hoped that Ho Chi Minh City would provide some documents about his life and revolutionary activities.

The Russian delegation also presented many plans to further tighten the twinning relationship between the two cities, in addition to specific cooperation plans, but also to establish twinning relations between the districts and localities.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le showed her affection to hear the proposal to build a gallery about President Ho Chi Minh at the school in St. Petersburg.

She said that the year 2022-2023 marks many important milestones in the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. This year, the two countries will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the joint declaration on the strategic partnership and move towards the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's first visit to St. Petersburg, which laid the foundation for relations between the two countries.

As the city named after Uncle Ho, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to continue that good traditional relationship, as well as tighten the friendship in the twinning relationship with St. Petersburg.

She also shared the achievements that Ho Chi Minh City has made in the goal of economic recovery after the pandemic and expressed her wish that in the coming time, with active support from the government, especially from the Legislative Council of St. Petersburg, economic and cultural exchanges between the two sides will be further promoted./.
