UNESCO continues to accompany Hanoi in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values

At the meeting, Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko highly appreciated Vietnam's interest in the UNESCO cooperation mechanism; and highlighted the outstanding cooperation results between Vietnam and UNESCO over the past time, which have become a model in the world, towards the goal of sustainable development, ensuring the country's socio-economic development as well as implementing implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

According to Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko, the UNESCO Office in Hanoi is the most efficient and effective in Asia. Hanoi was awarded the title of City for Peace and became a member of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. He said that Hanoi is a typical success of Vietnam in UNESCO projects.

He affirmed that UNESCO will accompany Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, and that the organization will continue to support and strengthen cooperation in the future.

On behalf of the city government and people, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha thanked Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko for the good assessment. She stated that the breakthrough of the capital is the development of Hanoi's culture on the basis of promoting the thousand-year-old tradition of civilization and heroism; absorbing the cultural quintessence of humanity, considering this as an endogenous strength and a great spiritual motivation for sustainable development.

Currently, Hanoi has many plans to promote the value of cultural heritage with the immediate goal of helping the people of the capital and the whole country better know the country's heritage, furthering international promotion combined with with cultural tourism. The Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee hoped that in the coming time, UNESCO would continue to accompany Hanoi in projects and affirmed that the city would fully implement its commitments with UNESCO.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Hanoi city government, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha presented the Certificate of Merit to Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko, recognizing his contributions in preserving and promoting the value of Thang Long - Hanoi Cultural Heritage./.
