Vietnam, Uzbekistan promote bilateral cooperation in potential areas

During the call, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed the deep condolences of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan to the Party, President To Lam, the Government, the people of Vietnam, and the family of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on his passing. Minister Saidov noted that in the hearts of President Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an exemplary and dedicated son of Vietnam, an outstanding politician who made significant contributions to Vietnam's socio-economic development, enhancing the country's prestige and position regionally and internationally. He also highlighted Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's substantial contributions to the comprehensive and friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Uzbekistan, stating that he will always be remembered by the people of Uzbekistan.

Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed gratitude to Minister Bui Thanh Son for the warm reception during his visit to Hanoi in March 2024. He affirmed that Vietnam is a key partner for Uzbekistan in Southeast Asia and agreed to continue enhancing close cooperation between the foreign ministries of both countries to further promote Vietnam-Uzbekistan relations.

On behalf of the Party, President To Lam, the Government, the people of Vietnam, and the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Minister Bui Thanh Son thanked President Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan for their timely support, which has provided Vietnam with additional strength to overcome this difficult period.

Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam always values its friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Central Asian countries, particularly Uzbekistan, which has a strategic geographical location and plays an important role in connecting Asia and Europe. He expressed pleasure at the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times, marked by numerous bilateral and multilateral exchanges. The discussions between the two ministers in March 2024 in Hanoi are being actively implemented by various ministries to promote cooperation in political diplomacy, economic and trade relations, agriculture, culture, education, tourism, transportation and people-to-people exchanges.

The two ministers agreed that the foreign ministries of both countries would continue to play a leading role in promoting bilateral cooperation in potential areas through increased delegation exchanges at all levels. They also agreed to soon organize the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation and to maintain the mechanism of political consultations at the Deputy Foreign Minister level./.
