A ceremony was organized to hand over a marble bust of late President Souphanouvong, produced by Fine Arts and Technology Development Co. Ltd, to Kasone Phomvihane Museum in Vientiane on January 16th.

The bust, 1.35 metres in height and 500kg in weight, was made of white marble exploited in Vietnam’s Nghe An province, the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, who founded the Indochinese Communist Party and laid the foundation for the ongoing special relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Nam Moc, Director of Fine Arts and Technology Development Co. Ltd, reviewed the life of President and Prince Souphanouvong, as well as his contributions to Laos and the Vietnam – Laos special relations.
He also released that the firm had earlier made a statue of President Souphanouvong placed at Luang Prabang University, and created another statue depicting him commanding the Vietnam-Laos joint military alliance in a fight against France on March 21st, 1946 in Thakhek town of Khammouane province, on the occasion of the 100th birthday.
Admiring the example and morality of President Souphanouvong, the company presented the bust as a gift to Laos on the occasion of 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries (September 5th, 1962) and 40 years since the signing of the bilateral treaty of friendship and cooperation (July 18th, 1977).
Mr. Souvandy Sisavath, Deputy Office Manager of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, expressed his sentiment before the company, and added that the statue presentation also showed the heart of the people of Vietnam for late President Souphanouvong.
The bust will be placed at the Monument to President Souphanouvong in Phonsaath village of Xaythany district, Vientiane capital for officials, Party members and Lao people to burn incense and commemorate the late President./.
