Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Do Son Hai recently had a meeting with Mr. Nail Olpak, Chairman of the Turkish External Economic Council (DEIK) at DEIK headquarters in Istanbul.
The two sides exchanged major orientations on cooperation and trade and investment promotion in the coming time.
Congratulating Ambassador Do Son Hai on his assignment in Turkey, DEIK President Nail Olpak expressed his honor to welcome the Ambassador on his first business trip to Istanbul.
Mr. Olpak affirmed that Vietnam is one of Turkey's potential partners; the two sides have a lot of room to continue promoting economic and trade development.
On the occasion of the two countries moving towards the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1978-2023), the DEIK President wished to make strong steps in bilateral relations, such as the official visit between senior leaders of the two countries, signing a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and Turkey, or activities connecting the business communities of the two countries.
Ambassador Do Son Hai acknowledged and highly appreciated DEIK's role and cooperation in promoting bilateral economic and trade over the past time.
He said that Vietnam and Turkey need to quickly implement measures to promote cooperation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic being basically under control. The Ambassador emphasized that one of the contents that need to be soon promoted is to enhance mutual understanding between the people, localities and business communities of the two countries.
With that desire, the Vietnamese Ambassador hoped that the two sides will promote information about the country, people, business investment environment and featured products on each other's media, creating channels for fast information, meeting the needs of learning and cooperation of the two sides.
Committed to strengthening connections between localities and business communities of the two countries in the coming time, the Ambassador hopes to receive close cooperation from DEIK and Chairman Nail Olpak.
Also on this occasion, Mr. Hai had a working session with the leaders of the Turkey-Vietnam Business Council.
The Council is an organization of Turkish groups and businesses that have invested or are looking for investment opportunities in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Mr. Murat Atik from Sun Group, President of the Council, said that the Turkish business community wishes to connect and conduct activities to find investment opportunities in Vietnam after a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In July 2022, the Council will organize a business delegation to Vietnam to learn about the business environment and meet potential partners, Mr. Murat wants the Ambassador to connect businesses of the two countries, especially in some potential areas such as infrastructure, construction materials, agriculture, forestry and fishery.
The Vietnamese diplomat welcomed the Council's visit to Vietnam, and emphasized that the Council's investment experience in Vietnam is very important to the Turkish business community.
The Ambassador affirmed that he will always accompany the business communities of the two countries and be ready to listen to ideas of cooperation, remove obstacles, towards the goal of promoting bilateral economic-trade relations.
On the occasion of the business trip, Ambassador Do Son Hai and the representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Istanbul had meetings with a number of businesses that have been and are looking to invest in the Vietnamese market./.
