VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) will open a channel to teach Vietnamese language for overseas Vietnamese in order to preserve Vietnamese identity and develop the Vietnamese language.

September 8 proposed as Day of Vietnamese Language abroad

Accordingly, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National University (VNU) Pham Bao Son had a working session with the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to report activities the VNU is carrying out to build the channel.

Over the past time, Vietnamese language and culture teaching for overseas Vietnamese of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language under the USSH gained encouraging results.

The USSH has cooperated with the SCOV to carry out teaching activities such as organizing training courses for overseas Vietnamese on language methods; participating in organization of program Day to honor Vietnamese language; building a set of curriculum, which will be used in 2022 when VNU and USSH complete the online platform. Particularly, the USSH will complete 30 new and updated sets of exam questions and instructions to guide overseas Vietnamese teachers and parents only.

In addition, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language and USSH will also cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Training, VTVLive and VTV4 to produce teaching programs.

Mr. Pham Bao Son suggested the USSH both build the online channel and complete the curriculum and materials. At the same time, he hoped that the SCOV would give out specific requirements on subjects to access lectures so that VNU’s lecturers have suitable methods and the online channel can debut in early 2022.

At the meeting, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi agreed with Mr. Son’s viewpoint and hoped the two sides would join hands to carry out the program./.
