Wheelchairs given to disabled people in Quang Ninh province

The Quang Ninh provincial Red Cross has worked with the Lawrence S. Ting Community Support Fund to give 190 wheelchairs, worth over VND320 million, to people with disabilities in the province.

The gift of wheelchairs will help disabled people to more easily move around and work.

The Lawrence S. Ting Community Support Fund was set up in November 2005 in Ho Chi Minh city. So far, the fund has supported diverse social programs. In the education and training sector alone, the fund has given nearly 50,000 scholarships for talented poor pupils and students in remote areas.

The fund has also granted over 9,000 wheelchairs to disabled people across 32 provinces and cities nationwide.

In Quang Ninh province, in 2007 and 2008, the fund presented two computer rooms worth over VND600 million for pupils in Xuan Son secondary school in Dong Trieu district and Bai Chay high school in Ha Long city./.
