The Quang Ninh Portal reported that in recent years, the province’s forested area has increased continuously, especially production forests. Statistics show that Quang Ninh has 190,000 ha of production forests, accounting for 60% of the whole forest area of the province, mainly planted in Ba Che, Hoanh Bo and Tien Yen districts, making these districts a large wood material region serving the province’s wood processing industry.
Statistics also reveal that by 2020, the planted forests can produce 3.5-4 million cubic metres wood per year, which requires a sustainable and long-term development strategy.
However, the forestation has not been synchronous with small wood processing foundations of backward production lines, not satisfying the wood processing industry.
Therefore, the province is developing its planning on wood processing until 2020 with an orientation by 2030.
The planning noted that forestry processing in the province should be developed based on modern technologies; arranging processing foundations in regions that have stable sources of materials; using planting forests mainly; creating forestry processing and trading industries for the north.
According to leaders of Quang Ninh province, forests will be an important source in the strategy for poverty reduction and sustainable development. The province encourages organizations and individuals to participate in planting forests, giving priority to invest in large-scale wood processing foundations with advanced technological production lines.
The province has aggressively checked forestation areas, in which it has revoked ineffective areas of forests by organizations and enterprises to grant them to households who need forestation land./.
