Northern province’s district increases support for farmers’ production

During its realization of building new style rural areas, Van Don district of the northern province of Quang Ninh has increased its support for farmers’ production, considering it an important task in the building of new style rural areas.

So far the districts have carried out 29 projects to support production and 11 agricultural, forestry and fishery encouragement models with a total capital of VND21.5 billion allocated in 2011 and 2012.
In 2013, the district is spending nearly VND37 billion for building new style rural areas, 40% of which is being poured into communes in support of production.
So far 34 production development models have been realised. Together with this, the district has focused on projects on markets, environmental protection, infrastructure, credit interest rate support and support for small production models.
Among 29 projects that have received support for production, the district has focused on planting, agricultural, forestry and fishery production encouragement and breeding.
The support has helped 3,000 households access advanced science and technology, resulting in high productivity, high quality and high value plants and animals.
The district has also paid attention to giving vocational training to rural labourers, with 16 courses held for 560 rural labourers, creating jobs for 2,170 labourers in 2011 and 2012, contributing to raising the per capita income to VND22.3 million per year./.
