Quang Ninh’s seafood output hits 6,330 tonnes in January

Total seafood output in January 2014 reached an estimated 6,330 tonnes, 7.2 percent of the year’s target and a year-on-year rise of 4.6 percent, according the Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Specifically, exploited output was 4,375 tonnes, 8.1 percent of the year’s target and up 2.3 percent over the same month last year. Meanwhile, aquaculture output was 1,955 tonnes, 5.8 percent of the year’s target and up 10.1 percent.

In the first month this year, Quang Ninh granted 74 licenses and 129 aquaculture diaries for farmers. In the following months, the province will grant and extend aquaculture licenses and allow licenses to export to the EU market.

The province will continue to associate with other localities to investigate and tackle diseases in fed seafood and prevent cold and closely control germs on imported and domestically exploited seafood varieties./.
