Quang Ninh to host scientific workshop on special economic zones

An international scientific workshop on developing special economic zones in Vietnam will be held from March 19-21 in Ha Long city, said the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee on February 13.

The scientific workshop is part of events under the World Special Economic Zones Development Forum which will be held in Vietnam for the first time.

The workshop is expected to attract about 350 delegates representing central agencies in Vietnam, and leaders of four localities with outstanding potential and favourable conditions to develop special economic zones: Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and Kien Giang. In addition, scientists, experts, managers, lecturers from China, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan, India and the US will attend the event.

They will discuss international experiences in special economic zone development relating to land, finance and green growth initiatives. Furthermore, different models of special economic zones in the world and investment opportunities will be put on the table. Dozens of speeches will be presented at the workshop.

Experiences drawn from the workshop will be applied to the reality to develop special economic zones in Vietnam, such as Van Don special economic and administrative zone and Mong Cai border gate economic zone in Quang Ninh./.
