According to Nguyen Duc Thanh, Secretary of the district Party Committee, since late 2013, nine base transceiver stations (BTS) have been installed to bring wireless service to the district’s centre and some residential areas on Thanh Lan commune, with each station capable of spreading the signal a radius of some 400 metres. The contractor estimated that nearly 70% of the project’s work had been completed, and expected to install another 15 stations by the second quarter this year.

From now until 2015, the project will complete the installation and network coverage across 80%-85% of residential areas which attract a great number of tourists on the island.

Tourists to Co To island increased sharply to 56,000 in 2013, against just over 20,000 in 2012./.
