Nearly VND1.3 trillion in support of electricity fees

Some VND1.2-1.3 trillion has been u used to give electricity fee exemption or reduction to COVID-19 affected customers in the third phase, according to estimated statistics by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In 2020, to address obstacles for production and household life affected by COVID-19, with the Government’s approval, the Ministry of Industry and Trade instructed the Electricity of Vietnam to give electricity fee exemption or reduction in 2 phases, to over 27 million customers with some VND9.3 trillion in the first phase and to some 25.4 million customers with nearly VND3 trillion in the second phase.

"The electricity fee exemption or reduction has contributed to boosting economic recovery and directly supported electricity users across the country, especially low-income households, tourist accommodation establishments and logistics enterprises," said Mr. Tran Tue Quang, Deputy Head of the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam.

The third phase of electricity fee exemption or reduction has been applied to tourist accommodation establishments; facilities that are serving as free-or-charge places of isolation and concentrated medical examination of patients suspected of being infected with COVID-19; and  medical facilities being used to examine, test and treat patients suspected of being infected with COVID-19./.
