Since early September, 9 localities in the city have announced successful control of the pandemic, the first 7 being Thu Duc City, District 7, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio Districts.

The successful control was recognized based on 6 criteria put forth by the Ministry of Health, including reduction of new infections compared to the previous 2 weeks and of at least 50% compared to the week reporting the highest number of infections; the reduction of positive samples of RT-PCT testing in 14 successive days; and no new outbreaks reported in 7 successive days.

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to resume economic activities from October 1 as it has recorded many optimistic signals such as a decrease in the number of deaths and patients on ventilators, and higher number of patients being discharged from hospital than the number of patients taken to hospitals. It also plans to allow the opening of many activities such as weddings, sports, barbershops, trade and services./.
