Foreign tourists permitted to freely visit Co To island

Foreign tourists can now freely travel to the Co To island in the northern Quang Ninh province, said Mr. Hoang Ba Nam, Secretary of the Co To district Party Committee, Chairman of the district People's Committee.

Earlier, the Government’s Decree 71/2015/ND-CP dated September 3rd, 2015 regulated that international travelers with full formalities to enter Vietnam such as passport and visa were still required to hold permit to visit border areas.
On July 15th, the Co To district island was recognized as a local tourism area in line with Decision 1288/QD-UBND made by the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee.
Also according to Decree 71, foreign visitors do not need permission to visit a local tourism area.
In the first half of this year, Co To received some 150,000 visitors, most of them are domestic tourists./.
