Tourism route to Con Co Island to be launched

Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Vu Duc Dam has approved the policy of opening a tourism route to Con Co Island, as proposed by the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee.

The Deputy PM assigned the Quang Tri People’s Committee to closely associate with the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and relevant agencies to set up planning and invest in building technical infrastructure to serve tourism and ensure the combination of socio-economic development with building and consolidating national defence as regulated.
Con Co Island is located east of Vinh Linh district (Quang Tri province) and sits at 17 degrees latitude, about 30 kilometers from the mainland.
It is assessed as one of the most beautiful islands of the central region with an abundant eco-system. Tourists can swim; dive and see coral; visit the primeval forest and the lighthouse; and enjoy cuisine processed by people on the island.
Especially, tourists can visit a traditional room where displays recreating the history of the armed forces and local people over the past 55 years are kept, and a tribute to the soldiers who died to protect the island at the Hill 37 Monument./.
