Dong Hoi - Chiang Mai air route to be launched in August

The air route connecting from Dong Hoi city in the central coastal province of Quang Binh to Chiang Mai city in Thailand will be operated on August 11th by Jetstar Pacific, said the provincial Department of Tourism on July 19th.


There will be two flights a week, on Monday and Friday, using Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 economy seats. The flying time between Dong Hoi and Chiang Mai is 1 hour and 40 minutes.

From July 20th, the low-cost carrier sold tickets at its website http://www.jetstar.com, booking offices and agencies with starting prices from VND620,000 (about USD27.2) one way.

The launch of the air route is expected to help people travel conveniently as well as meet the travel demand of tourists of the two countries.

Mr. Ho An Phong, Director of the Quang Binh Department of Tourism, affirmed the majority of foreign tourists to Chiang Mai are interested in exploring, while Quang Binh is also one of the hot spots travelers take interest in, like Thailand.

With the potential of the countries, the flight marks an important turning point which helps Quang Binh attract more tourists. And, this is the shortest and most convenient connection for Thai people to discover famous tourism destinations in Quang Binh in particular and in Vietnam in general./.
