In addition, grapefruits from the US will receive approval for export to Vietnam. After that, the two sides will continue discussing opening trade of new fruits.
Currently, there are 6 kinds of fresh fruits from Vietnam exported to the US including: dragon fruit, rambutan, mango, longan, milkfruit and lychee.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic affected many import and export activities, from the beginning of the year to the end of August 2020, there were still more than 5,000 tons of fresh fruit of all kinds shipped to the market, a negligible decrease compared to the same period of 2019, equivalent to more than 6,000 tons.
After completing medical quarantine procedures, quarantine experts of the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) returned to Vietnam from September 2. They arrived at the Son Son Irradiation Center in Ho Chi Minh City to help the quarantine of fresh fruits to make exporting easier and faster.
Specifically, the demand volume of fresh fruits imports of the US is forecast to rise sharply from now to the end of the year./.
