An Giang exports first 13 tons of flat-seeded mangoes to RoK

On February 19, the An Giang provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Cho Moi district held a ceremony to announce the export of the first batch of flat-seeded mangoes to the Korean market.

This batch of flat-seeded mangoes exported to the Korean market includes 13 tons. In addition, at the announcement ceremony, there was also the signing of a contract to link the consumption of several mango types including: green-skinned statue mango (large fruit), flat-seeded mango (small fruit) between Cu Lao Gieng GAP Cooperative, Cho Moi district with Hoang Phat Fruit Limited Liability Company.

Cho Moi district has the largest mango growing area in An Giang, covering more than 6,401 hectares, of which green-skinned statue mangoes are concentrated mainly in 3 communes of Tan My, My Hiep, Binh Phuoc Xuan with a total area of 4,204 hectares.

The project aims to contribute to ensuring productivity and quality of mangoes, improving the lives of farmers, enhancing the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises and cooperatives, and promoting production and consumption along the domestic and foreign value chain.

To date, the area of mango according to VietGAP standards has reached more than 704 hectares, of which more than 267 hectares are for flat-seeded mangos. There are 41 growing areas that have been granted growing area codes for green-skinned mangoes and flat-seeded mangoes exported to China, the US, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia and China./.
