ASC certification is an international standard for sustainable aquaculture established by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) with 8 sets of standards for 12 species of aquatic farming, including clams.

Products with ASC certification are popular with consumers in many markets, especially the European market.

Accordingly, the clam farming area in Kim Son becomes the second clam farming area in Vietnam as well as in the world to obtain this international certification.

Currently, the coastal alluvial area of Kim Son district has an area of more than 1,200 ha of clam farming, with an output of 25-30 thousand tons of commercial clams a year. In addition, farmers also produce hundreds of billions of clam seeds a year.

Over the past years, the Ninh Binh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has regularly coordinated with functional units of Kim Son district, focusing on guiding the process and environmental management of clam farming areas; at the same time, effectively implementing the province's support policies for the development of clam production.

At the event, representatives of the clam farming community in Ninh Binh province and leaders of Thanh Hoa Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company signed a memorandum of understanding to link production and consumption of clams according to the value chain, opening a new direction for the development of commercial clams in the waters of Ninh Binh./.
