Ca Mau strives to earn over 1.6 billion USD from shrimp export by 2030

The Cau Mau People’s Committee has approved a plan to develop the province’s shrimp industry in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, said the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on May 27.

Accordingly, Ca Mau’s total area of brackish water shrimp farming will be stable at 280,000 hectares and total farmed shrimp output will be 350,000 tons by 2030. Total investment capital estimated for shrimp industry development will be about 20 trillion VND, including more than 4.05 trillion VND of budget capital and 15.95 trillion VND of capital from other economic sectors; and its export turnover value will be 1.65 billion USD.
The Mekong Delta province will focus on developing the shrimp industry sustainably with high productivity and quality, and have a reputable brand in domestic and foreign markets by 2050. Production is strictly controlled at all stages throughout the chain, 100% of products from farmed shrimp can be traced back to their origin.
Infrastructure in concentrated shrimp farming areas is invested synchronously. The province’s shrimp industry continues to be the main production industry to create products, value, and export turnover in the seafood industry, and is a shrimp processing center of the world and the country.
Ca Mau is a locality with a large brackish water shrimp farming area in the Mekong Delta, with annual shrimp export turnover of over 1 billion USD./.
