During the past 9 days of Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday (from January 29 to February 6), Vietnam’s export and import turnover reached 3.05 billion USD, a sharp increase of 83% compared to the same holiday last year.
Exports and imports flourished during the Lunar New Year (Tet)
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, more than 2,460 businesses were engaged in import and export activities, a more than 2.5-fold increase compared to the same holiday last year.
In the reviewed period, 20,460 customs declarations were processed, nearly 2 times higher than the figures reported in the same period last year
In the nine days, Vietnam exported commodities to 80 countries and territories, raking in 1.47 billion USD, a 2-fold increase, while it spent 1.58 billion USD on imports, up 68%.
China remained the largest importer of Vietnamese goods with a total value of 400 million USD, accounting for 27.3% of the total export turnover. It was followed by the US, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Hong Kong (China) and Japan.
From the beginning of the year to February 6, the country’s export-import value totaled 61.85 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease of 10.5%. This figure included nearly 31.26 billion USD of exports, down 12.7%, and 30.59 billion USD of imports, down 8.2%. With this, Vietnam witnessed a trade surplus of 680 million USD.
The main export items included phones of all kinds and components; computers, electronic products and components; and machinery and equipment./.
