Lao Cai: Import-export value rises by 60% in April

Lao Cai’s import and export turnover in April increased by 60% from the same period last year, according to statistics from the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

According to the Lao Cai People’s Committee, the value of import-export, exchange, and purchase of goods through border gates in the province in April is still on the rise from the previous month, and compared to the same period in 2023.

Specifically, the value was estimated at 229.78 million USD, up 10.73% against March 2024 and up 60.66% over the same period last year.

Of which, export value reached an estimated 109.36 million USD, up 15.87% from the previous month and up 60.11% over the same period last year, bringing the total value in the first four months this year to 347.67 million USD, up 40.65% from the same period last year.

Import value reached an estimated 53.97 million USD, down 4.24% from the previous month and up 120.51% over the same period last year, bringing the total value in the first four months this year to 191.15 million USD, up 41.3% from the same period last year.

The main import and export items are peeled wood, dragon fruit, watermelon, durian, jackfruit, banana, rambutan, mango and cassava, while imported goods are flowers, ornamental plants, fresh fruits and vegetables, fertilizer, machinery and equipment, confectionery and electric energy.

The average number of vehicles cleared through customs at border gates is more than 370 vehicles a day, including 180 vehicles for exports and  190 vehicles for imports./.
