The growth is higher than that of 2020 and 2021 and that of the 2011-2023 period.
Specifically, the economy is estimated to expand 6.72% year-on-year in the fourth quarter, higher than the 3.41% of the first quarter, the 4.25% of the second quarter, and the 5.47% of the third quarter.
In the year, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector is estimated to grow by 3.83%, contributing 8.84% to the economy’s total added value, while the industrial and construction sector is estimated to increase by 3.74%, contributing 28.87%, and the service sector by 6.82%, and 62.29%.
The scale of GDP at current prices in 2023 is estimated at 10.2 quadrillion VND (430 billion USD). GDP per capita is estimated to reach 101.9 million VND (4,284 USD), 160 USD higher than that in the previous year.
Head of GSO Nguyen Thi Huong said that the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector is growing positively. In particular, export turnover of some agricultural products has increased, livestock production has developed stably, and the application of high-tech models in white-legged shrimp farming has brought economic efficiency.
Along with that, trade and tourism activities maintain high growth momentum, positively contributing to the growth of the service sector. The added value of the service sector in 2023 increases by 6.82% compared to the previous year, higher than the increase of 2.01% and 1.75% in 2020-2021.
In addition, some market service industries had large proportion, significantly contributing growth rate of total added value of the entire economy such as: wholesale and retail up 8.82% against 2022, contributing contribute 0.86%; the transportation and warehousing industry up 9.18%, contributing 0.55%; finance, banking and insurance activities up 6.24%, contributing 0.37%; accommodation and food services up 12.24%, contributing 0.31%. The service and trade sectors have grown quite high and evenly.
The GSO forecast that Vietnam continues to face many difficulties and challenges in 2024.
