The Ministry said that the country exported 4.68 million tons rice during the period, earning 2.98 billion; an increase of 10% in volume and a sharp rise of 32% in value due to the high export price of the commodity.
However, in the first half of this year, Vietnam also spent about 670 million USD importing rice from other markets. In 2023, the country spent nearly 860 million USD importing rice from other countries (mainly from Cambodia and India).
Despite being the second largest rice exporter in the world, businesses say that Vietnam still imports some types of rice to produce and process animal feed./.
