Create motivation and the spirit of rising out of poverty
Tan Ky is one of 11 mountainous districts located in the west of Nghe An province, 90km from Vinh city. Two decades ago, Tan Ky countryside was only dusty red dirt roads in the dry season and muddy in the rainy season. Most of the 50 thousand households of Kinh, Thai, Tho... in 22 communes and towns in the area also faced many difficulties; agricultural and forestry production is fragmented; the poverty rate was high.
Faced with those difficulties, the Party committees, authorities and people of the entire district have united to find appropriate solutions to move the homeland step by step on the path of socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction. Due to the impact of economic recession, natural disasters and the COVID-19 epidemic, Tan Ky's economic targets have been still completed on schedule. To date, the poverty rate in the entire district has decreased to 7.52%. The appearance of mountainous countryside changes every day; the life of ethnic minorities has improved with more and more prosperous and rich households.
Policy credit covers Tan Ky village
Policy credit from VBSP plays an important role in reducing sustainable poverty, building new rural areas and ensuring local social security.
Mr. Phan Thanh Tu - Director of VBSP Tan Ky district said: After 10 years of implementing Directive 40-CT/TW, VBSP Tan Ky district has focused on mobilizing large financial resources and effectively implementing preferential credit programs to the poor households and other policy beneficiaries. By April 30, 2024, the District People's Committee and communes and towns have paid attention to arranging capital from the local budget to entrust to VBSP an amount of 4,666 million VND, contributing to increasing the total policy credit balance of 649,744 million VND with 11,552 active borrowers.
Policy credit capital has covered the entire Tan Ky district, helping 35,280 poor households and other policy beneficiaries access to preferential loans; 3,252 households overcome the poverty threshold; 2,250 workers were created jobs; 8,649 disadvantaged students get study loans; 9,393 works of safe water were built; solid houses were built for many poor households and disadvantaged ethnic families.
At the same time, policy credit also contributes to raising the average income per capita from 3.5 million VND/person/year (2002) to 38.5 million VND/person/year (2022), an increase of more than 11 times compared to before implementing Directive 40-CT/TW, contributing to creating resilience in restructuring crops and livestock, building a farm and family economic model with high productivity and income.
The effectiveness of policy credit in Tan Ky district has awakened internal strength mobilized from local labor resources, raised people's awareness of poverty reduction and mobilized synergy from the community towards the poor and other policy beneficiaries. The mountainous areas in Western Nghe An have moved closer to the lowlands, poverty is being gradually pushed back. The lives of ethnic minorities are gradually becoming more stable and improved.
VBSP Tan Ky district always strives to focus on mobilizing resources, promptly transferring capital to the villages, continue to deeply implement Directive 40-CT/TW and Conclusion 06-KL/TW of the Secretariat, effectively serving sustainable poverty reduction programs, new rural construction and local socio- economic development plans./.
