Vietnam ranked 2nd in world footwear export

Vietnam is ranked 2nd in footwear exports with an estimated export volume accounting for 10% of the world's total.

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, footwear exports of all kinds in February earned more than 1.17 billion USD, down 40.3% compared to January. In the first 2 months of the year, the export turnover reached 3.1 billion USD, up 13.8% over the same period last year.

Currently, Vietnam is ranked 2nd in footwear exports with an estimated export volume accounting for 10% of the world’s total and present in 150 markets such as the US, the EU, China, Japan and the UK.

In the first 2 months of the year, despite a turnover decrease compared to the same period, all main export markets saw a growth rate of over 10%. Specifically, in the period, Vietnam became the biggest footwear exporter to the US market with a turnover of 1.1 billion USD, up 25% over the same period last year, accounting for 35%.

It was followed by China with over 318 million USD (up 11.4%) and Belgium with over 191 million USD (up 10%).

According to the “Strategy for developing Vietnam's textile, garment and footwear industry to 2030, vision to 2035”, Vietnam strives to earn export turnover of 27 - 28 billion USD by 2025 and 38 - 39 billion USD by 2030.

Vietnam’s footwear exports are forecast to reach a growth rate of 10 - 12% a year in the 2022 – 2026 period.

Aiming to support businesses to boost exports, in 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will carry out large-scale trade promotion activities at national and international levels, especially with export industries and fields with strength; such as Vietnam Expo 2024 and international fair for supply chain of industrial products in 2024./.
