Vietnam sees record-high number of new business registrations in 2023

The number of newly-established enterprises in 2023 reached 159,294, an increase of 7.2% from 2022 and a record level, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Business Registration Mangement Department.

The Business Registration Management Department said that the number is 1.2 times higher than the average level in the 2017-2022 period and increased by 4.6% compared to the estimate of the whole year of 2023.
Businesses resuming operation in 2023 numbered 58,412, thereby, contributing to bringing the number of businesses entering and re-entering the market to 217,706, a year-on-year increase of 4.5% and 1.3 times higher than the number of businesses withdrawing from the market over the past year.
Notably, in the fourth quarter, there were 42,952 newly-established businesses, a year-on-year increase of 20.2% and 1.3 times higher than the average quarterly level in the 2017-2022 period.
The total newly registered capital of businesses entering the market has improved over all quarters of 2023. Specifically, the country saw 310,331 billion VND added to the market in the first quarter; 397,126 billion VND in the second quarter; 379,319 billion VND in the third quarter and 434,483 billion VND in the fourth quarter./.
