It is followed by seafood, worth 76.4 million USD, up 87.7%; cashew nuts, 28 million USD, up 81.8%; and fruits and vegetables, 26.8 million USD, up 25.2%.
In addition, rubber exports to this market increased by 23.8%, wood and wood products by 47.6%, rice exports doubled, and pepper by 96.9%. Compared to the same period last year, only tea products recorded negative growth, of 12%.
Russia is not a large export market for many types of Vietnamese agricultural products. However, in the first 5 months of this year, agricultural products exported to the market increased sharply.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, goods transportation from Vietnam to Russia has become more convenient. Russian transport corporations has opened Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong - Vladivostok (Russia) direct transport route.
In addition, the railway transport system supports deliveries with Russia, so freight transport becomes diverse.
Tariff incentives after the country signed the Vietnam - Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement in 2015 also helped Vietnamese agricultural products increase their competitiveness in this market, including Russia./.
