According to a statement from the Embassy of Denmark, Ambassador Kim Højlund Christensen recently presented his credentials to acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, officially taking the position of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam, to tighten bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a video sending greetings to Vietnam, Ambassador Christensen shared his first impressions of the land and people of Vietnam from the first encounter.
“I first visited Vietnam in 2004. I was immediately impressed with the beautiful country of Vietnam and warm and open Vietnamese people," said the Ambassador.
“I am a diplomat who has served more than 25 years in the Danish diplomacy. I am looking forward to four busy years to represent Denmark in Vietnam, working hard with our Vietnamese partners to tighten bilateral cooperation that is already very strong and durable between the two countries," the new Ambassador added.
According to him, this is a "wonderful time" for him to be in Vietnam in the context of the two countries "sharing many common interests, including strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of green growth, food and agriculture, health and education."
Vietnam and Denmark have a long, close relationship. Offical diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1971 and are being boosted within the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement.
Ambassador Kim Højlund Christensen is a veteran diplomat. Before arriving in Vietnam, he served as the Danish Ambassador to Brazil, Guyana and Suriname from 2014 to 2018, Danish Ambassador to Chile from 2006 to 2010. From 2004 to 2014, he also held various positions in Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He worked in Moscow (Russia) and Berli (Germany) in the 1990s and early 21st century./.
