(CPV) – The book “The People make the Peace: Lessons from the Vietnam Antiwar Movement” introduces reflections and analysis of nine US activists who came to Vietnam during the war.
The book, edited by Karin Aguilar-San Juan and Frank Joyce, was launched by the Vietnam – US Society in a ceremony held on July 11th, in Hanoi. It was translated into Vietnamese by the Foreign Language Publishing House.
The launch of the book offers chances for writers and US peace activists who made contributions to the antiwar movement in Vietnam to share memories, feelings and real experiences.

The nine activists came to Vietnam to learn about the Vietnamese people and observe with their own eyes the terrible effects of the war. Now, looking back, each of them considered their meeting with the country and people of Vietnam, despite being ruined by the war, as a significant moment for their lives.
In speech at the event, Mr. Bui The Giang, Former Deputy Head of the Vietnam delegation at the United Nations and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam – US Society, said the book help him understand more about millions Americans who opposed the Vietnam war. And the 300-page book is not enough for readers to understand about the whole period of the history.
