The articles on Pathetlao Daily have highlighted the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance between Laos and Vietnam, from the national liberation struggle under the leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party, later the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The articles emphasized that solidarity and mutual assistance have become a long-standing fine tradition that has grown stronger and stronger, developing into a special relationship of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, which was laid by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and was constantly nurtured and developed by generations of leaders of the two Parties, States and peoples of the two countries, making it a relationship of pure solidarity rare in international relations, and an invaluable heritage of the two peoples.

Over the past years, Laos-Vietnam relations in the fields of politics, diplomacy, defense-security, economy and culture-society have been increasingly expanded and constantly developed, bringing practical benefits for the people of the two countries. The Vietnamese Party, Government and people always give valuable, timely and effective support and assistance to Laos, both for annual assistance as well as support and help in difficulty due to natural disasters. Especially in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam is the first country to support and help Laos. Vietnam has helped Laos complete the construction of the new Lao National Assembly building, promptly serving the first session of the 9th Lao National Assembly and other projects that have made an important contribution to the socio-economic development of Laos.

Recently, during his official visit to Vietnam on January 8-10, Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh co-chaired the 44th meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Committee and launched the Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022. This visit has affirmed the spirit of solidarity, mutual trust between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples.

In order to promote the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, the leaders of the two countries agreed to jointly celebrate the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between Laos and Vietnam. 2022, as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5,1962) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977- July 18, 2022) in a vibrant and meaningful way for future generations to know and understand better the special relationship of the two countries, through many activities reflecting the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, despite the difficulties caused  by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the article, at present, the two countries Laos and Vietnam are jointly promoting the implementation of cooperation agreements to bring more practical results, especially the results of the meeting between the two Politburoes and the 44th session of the Lao-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Bilateral Cooperation Committee, while the trade-investment cooperation during the COVID-19 outbreak continues to achieve positive results because the two countries have made efforts to create favorable conditions for trade, investment, transportation and travel. After the COVID-19 pandemic is under control, bilateral trade and investment will develop faster./.
