The articles have emphasized the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance from the period of struggle against common enemies to the period of national construction and defense, as well as the cooperation in investment and trade between Vietnam and Laos today.
On April 18, on the front page of Pasaxon Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, had the article "Upholding the struggling spirit of the Lao-Vietnamese people". The article mentions the solidarity and closeness between the peoples of the two countries, and the shoulder-to-shoulder cooperation of Vietnamese volunteers with the Lao army and people in the struggle for national independence.
On April 19, Socio-Economic News published an article assessing trade cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The article said that, despite being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, trade between the two countries still has many bright spots and develops constantly.
According to the article, from 2018 to 2021, the trade turnover between the two countries reached USD4.5 billion. In particular, in 2021, the two countries' trade turnover made remarkable development, reaching USD1.37 billion, an increase of 33.32% compared to 2020, exceeding the target set by the Governments of the two countries and the highest within 10 years. The article attributed such results to the special relationship between the two countries. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the two Governments have taken timely and effective measures to promote cooperation and support economic development and mutual trade.
On April 18, the Lao press also published articles about the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, highlighting events to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year, especially the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Amity and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022).
The Lao press reported on the content of a seminar held by the Supreme People's Procuracy of Laos on the relationship between the two countries, highlighting the values and achievements that the two Parties, States and peoples of the two countries have achieved. The article asserts that these achievements are partly due to the support and cooperation between the two countries from the period of struggle for national independence to the period of national construction and defense.
Lao scholars have affirmed that the relationship and cooperation between the two countries has always been a decisive factor in all victories of the revolutions in the two countries. The relationship that the two countries have built today needs to be protected, nurtured and developed in depth, for the common interests of the two parties, the two States and the two peoples./.
