In the first half of the year, authorised agencies of the northern province of Quang Ninh uncovered, seized and dealt with over 2,600 cases of smuggling, fake commodities, trade fraud and illegally imported poultry and poultry products, fining and seizing goods worth over VND61 billion.

The results were announced during a meeting to review the prevention of smuggling, fake commodities, trade fraud and illegally imported poultry and poultry products in the first six months of the year.
Statistics presented during the meeting also revealed that the number of cases dealt with reflected a year-on-year increase of 36%.
Of which, the province dealt with 1,493 cases of smuggling and trade fraud, 196 cases of transport of forbidden goods, 233 cases of food safety violation, and 246 cases of illegal exploitation, processing, transport and trading of coal.
In poultry and animal cases alone, the province dealt with 122 cases of transport and trading of illegally imported poultry, destroyed 31 tonnes of chickens, nearly 300,000 breeding poultry and over 40 tonnes of poultry products.
According to the provincial steering committee on the prevention of smuggling, fake commodities and trade fraud, the smuggling and trading of fake and forbidden goods, violation of food safety, illegally exploitation, processing and consumption of coal had been controlled, contributing to stabilizing the market, promoting production and business, increasing the budget collection and ensuring social welfare in the province./.
