Northern province’s district: People donate money and land to build village roads

Dam Ha district of the northern province of Quang Ninh has been completing the rural traffic road system with 25 ongoing construction projects. So far, 8 village roads have been concreted and 17 others are now being completed, with the active participation of local residents.

Statistics show that local residents have contributed nearly VND1.8 billion and donated over 13,500 square metres of land to build the road system, bringing the total amount of money from people in the past 3 years to over VND35.5 billion, accounting for over 10% of the total capital for building new style rural areas.

As of 2012, in its program to build new style rural areas, the district built and expanded rural roads with the total land area of over 61,700 square metres, with 4 of 9 communes completing communal and inter-communal roads, and all the communes having concrete roads./.
