Northern province earmarks over VND47 billion to train rural labourers

In the 2010-2013 period, the northern province of Quang Ninh has put aside VND47.7 billion to support rural labourers’ vocational training, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

The committee said that from 2010 to 2012, the number of rural labourers given vocational training through contracts with vocational training foundations reached over 10,600, of which over 7,700 rural labourers, or 72.4%, found jobs after the training.

Some 134 poor families joining vocational training escaped poverty, while 380 others became prosperous.

The committee also reported that nearly 1,500 rural labourers, after being trained, started work in non-agricultural sectors.

As planned, in 2013, the province will spend some VND12 billion training 6,000 rural labourers, including 2,250 revolutionary contributors, the poor, ethnic minority labourers, disabled labourers and those whose cultivated land was revoked for other purposes, 150 labourers who have income equal to 150% of poor labourers’ income, and 3,600 other labourers./.
