Some 200 couples of lifebuoys worth close to VND40 million have recently been given to pupils of the Ban Sen secondary school in Van Don District, the northern province of Quang Ninh, with an aim to protect the pupils when traveling across waterway regions.

The presents came from the fund for children of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), the Confederation of Labour of the northern province of Quang Ninh, and the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Quang Ninh branch.
During the granting ceremony, Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, VGCL Vice President, also presented 17 gifts worth VND300,000 each to the school teachers’ children and to those of female officials of the Ban Sen communal People’s Committee. In addition, VND10 million was provided to the school for purchase of additional school facilities; while 700 notebooks worth over VND5 million in total were presented to pupils.
During the workers’ month, Vietinbank presented 1,000 lifebuoys worth VND180 million to pupils in Ha Long and Uong Bi cities; Tien Yen, Dong Trieu, Binh Lieu and Hai Ha districts who often have to cross waterways to get to school. The lifebuoys are expected to ensure the safety of pupils when crossing waterways./.
