Satellite acupuncture hospital opens in Quang Ninh province’s hospital of traditional medicine

On June 5, Quang Ninh province Hospital of Traditional Medicine and the National Acupuncture Hospital opened a satellite acupuncture hospital as part of a program to implement the 1816 Project of the Ministry of Health.

Under the program, the National Acupuncture Hospital will transfer the organizational model and professional techniques of treating rachiodynia to the Quang Ninh province Hospital of Traditional Medicine.

This satellite acupuncture hospital will also combine natural care methods, and adhere to the technical guidelines and techniques transferred by the National Acupuncture Hospital.

Associated Professor Doctor Nghiem Huu Thanh, head of the National Acupuncture Hospital personally gave technical instruction to staff from  the Quang Ninh province Hospital of Traditional Medicine.

The move also contributes to improving the professional and technical capabilities of health check-ups and treatment at subordinate health establishments as well as reducing overloading at national hospitals.

So far, the National Acupuncture Hospital has deployed 14 satellite acupuncture hospitals nationwide.

Earlier, the first ever satellite acupuncture hospital in Quang Ninh province was opened in Cam Pha General Hospital./.

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific acupoints along the skin of the body involving various methods such as the application of heat, pressure, laser or penetration by thin needles. It is a form of complementary and alternative medicine and a key component of traditional Chinese medicine. Accordingly, stimulating specific acupuncture points corrects imbalances in the flow of qi through channels known as meridians. Acupuncture aims to treat a range of conditions, though it is most commonly used for pain relief.
