Quang Ninh province implements preferential loans to poor program

During a recent meeting to review the operation in the first 5 months of the year, the Quang Ninh provincial Bank for Social Policies reported that as of May 31, it had operated with a total capital of VND1.51 trillion, with an outstanding balance of VND1.457 trillion.

Accordingly, the bank gave loans to 371 poor families and more than 3,200 families living near the poverty line as assistance for domestic production expansion.

Loans were also given to 198 poor students, almost 3,000 families in need of safe water supply construction, and 100 applicants to run businesses in disadvantaged areas.

The credit programmes providing loans to near-poor families, loans for businesses in disadvantaged regions, and loans for environmental hygiene and safe water, saw the highest growth rates.

In the remaining months of the year, the bank plans to strictly follow targets assigned at central level promptly deploying preferential credit programs to applicants./.
