The rankings are based on five intermediary indicators representing five important areas related to children. These include the level of attention to child protection, caring and education, and the assurance of children’s comprehensive development.
Accordingly, 10 provinces and cities leading the indicators consist of Long An, Ho Chi Minh city, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Nam Dinh.
Initiated by the Department of Child Care and Protection and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) in 2013, the rankings aim to provide ministries, sectors and domestic and foreign organisations with scientific, accurate and specific indices in the field.
According to the Department of Child Care and Protection, the initial ranking is considered a firm impetus to complete the indicators in the years to come, contributing to increasing the efficiency of child care, protection and education across the country./.
