Over 1,300 cows earmarked for the poor in northern province

Some 1,300 cows are expected to be given to poor families in the northern province of Quang Ninh, in a program to support poor people in disadvantaged areas.

The program, coordinated by the provincial People’s Committee and the Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel), aims to contribute to poverty reduction by improving people’s standard of living in a sustainable way. The aim of creating a solid foundation for sustainable, domestic economic development will also supplement the security and defense capabilities of the more remote, provincial border areas.

To raise the capital needed to cover the cost of the cows and maintain the program until October 2016, the program’s steering committee is encouraging group staff to purchase the 20,000 Viettel cards to complete the task./.
