For many years, members of the Quang Yen town Association of the Elderly in the northern province of Quang Ninh have set up altars for worshiping Uncle Ho. Apart from ancestral altars, Uncle Ho altars have been maintained carefully, showing their respect for the great father of the nation.

Do Thi Xoan’s family in Phong Coc ward was one of the first families setting up altars to worship Uncle Ho. In 2013, her family, together with the 20 other families, were presented with the portrait of Uncle Ho. Her family chose the most sacred place in the house to worship Uncle Ho. “During festivals, or on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, we burn incense to worship Uncle Ho,” she said. “On the National Day or Uncle Ho’s birthday, my family makes food offerings to worship Uncle Ho, like for our ancestors.”
The setting up of Uncle Ho altars has been expanded among each elderly association member in the town. The image of Uncle Ho with a gentle smile is placed in a solemn space. The deed reminds everyone of following Uncle Ho’s examples in daily activities, and educating the younger generations about the tradition of patriotism.
Nearly 5,800 families in the town hang Uncle Ho portraits in their houses, while 2,531 families of the town elderly association members set up altars to worship Uncle Ho. “All show the limitless gratitude and respect for beloved Uncle Ho,” said Dang Van Suu, Chairman of the town elderly association./.
