The election was carried out during the first session of the province’s new term People’s Council which opened on June 22nd to elect key positions of the provincial People’s Council, People’s Committee and Juror of the provincial People’s Court.
Members of the People’s Council re-elected Mr Doan Tan Buu (52), Mr Nguyen Thanh Hung (55) and Mr Chau Hong Phuc (54) as Vice Heads of the provincial People’s Committee.
Mr Phan Van Thang, 49, Head of the Dong Thap provincial Party Committee Commission for Organization, was elected as Head of the 9th Dong Thap provincial People’s Council, term 2016-2021, with 95.23% of votes in favour.
The two Vice Heads of the 9th Dong Thap provincial People’s Council were Mr Tran Anh Dung, 54, (re-elected) and Ms Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, 37.
Members also agreed to vote Ms Le Thi Hong Phuong as Head of Legal Board, her assistant is Mr Le Dinh Huy; Mr Nguyen Huu Duc as Head of Cultural and Social Board, his assistant is Ms Doan Duy Thuy Ngan; Mr Tran Van Hieu as Head of Economic and Budget Board, and Mr Bui Minh Chau as Head of Office of the provincial People’s Council.
On the same day, the 9th People's Council term 2016-2021 of the southern province of Tien Giang convened its first session to elect key personnel of the provincial People's Council and People's Committee.
At the meeting, Mr Nguyen Van Danh, 54, PCC member, Secretary of Tien Giang provincial Party Committee, Head of the 8th provincial People’s Council cum Head of the delegation of Tien Giang NA deputies, was re-elected as Head of the 9th provincial People’s Council, term 2016-2021. He used to hold position of Standing Vice Secretary of 9th Tien Giang provincial Party Committee.

Born in Long An commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province, Mr Nguyen Van Danh’s qualification is a Bachelor of Politics, a Bachelor of Law, and has undergone senior training in political issues.
Mr Le Van Huong, 54, Vice Secretary of Tien Giang provincial Party Committee cum Head of the 8th provincial People’s Committee was also re-elected as Head of the 9th provincial People’s Committee.
Born in Long Binh Dien commune, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province, Mr Le Van Huong holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, being trained for doctoral program, and has undergone senior training in political issues. He used to hold positions of Head of Tien Giang Department of Planning and Investment, Secretary of Go Cong Dong district Party Committee, Vice Head of the provincial People’s Committee.
Members also elected Ms Nguyen Thi Sang, 49, a member of Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Standing Board, Vice Head of the 8th provincial People’s Council as Vice Head of the 9th provincial People’s Council; Mr Pham Van Bay, 53, standing member of the 8th provincial People’s Council cum Head of Economic and Budget Board under the provincial People’s Council, as Vice Head of the 9th provincial People’s Council.
The session also elected 19 members of the provincial People’s Committee and 33 jurors of the provincial People’s Court./.
