Russia highly praises APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam

At the event, deputies highly praised the theme and priorities of the APEC Year 2017, which are given by Vietnam.
According to experts, as the host of APEC 2017, Vietnam has launched a number of initiatives related to the common spirit of APEC which is to create new momentum to share benefits among member economies. Vietnam's proposed priorities reflect the common concern of APEC members on maintaining APEC's status as a driver of global economic growth.
Head of the Senior Officials’ Meeting delegation of Russia Valery Sorokin said in a speech: "We highly appreciate the preference topics of APEC summit which are proposed by Vietnam, Chair of APEC 2017 this year. They all coincide with Russia's interests in the agendas including promoting sustainable, creative and inclusive growth; boosting extensive regional economic connectivity; improving competitiveness and innovation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in a digital era; and strengthening food security and sustainable agriculture. The other important priority is to ensure the continuity of APEC summit activities, focusing on important fields to the member economies.
“Russia very much supports priorities given by Vietnam this year. In reality, Vietnam has been very active in regional and international integration,” said Director of the Russian APEC Study Centre under the Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Tatiana Flegontova.
Through the possibility of cooperation in the APEC region, important issues for Russia-Vietnam bilateral cooperation were discussed at the seminar, especially the ability of Russia and Vietnam to contribute to shaping APEC's agenda after 2020./.
